韓国の写真家、Han Youngsoo（ハン・ヨンス/1933-1999）。朝鮮戦争に従軍後カメラを手にし、荒廃した祖国の街並みだけでなく、経済復興と共に急速に近代化してゆく都市ソウルと、この時代の市井の人々の日常を生き生きと、そしてBressonや木村伊兵衛を思わせる完璧な構図で捉え記録した写真家。韓国内での知名度は高いが、世界的に評価を得だしたのはHan Youngsooの死後となる2000年代に入ってから。アルル国際写真フェスティバルや、ニューヨークのICP、ロサンゼルスのBaik Art Galleryで紹介されるなど徐々に本格的に認知され始めている。本書はHan Youngsooの遺族が運営するHan’s Graphicからの発行。女性を主題にした写真でまとめられた1冊。
